How to read the Dubai Metro map

The map is schematic: distances are not to scale, but the order of stations and the places where lines meet are exact. The Red Line runs along Sheikh Zayed Road from Centrepoint (near the airport) to the Jebel Ali area. At National Paints it splits: one branch ends at Life Pharmacy and the other, opened in 2020, ends at Expo 2020. The Green Line loops through old Dubai, crossing the creek between Gold Souq and Al Ghubaiba, and runs from e& in Al Qusais to Creek in Al Jaddaf.

Frequently asked questions

How many stations does the Dubai Metro have?

There are 53 different stations in operation: 35 on the Red Line (29 on the main route plus 6 on the Route 2020 branch to Expo 2020) and 20 on the Green Line. Union and BurJuman are shared by both lines, which is why some sources count 55 station stops.

Where do the Red and Green lines meet?

At two interchange stations: Union in Deira and BurJuman in Bur Dubai. You change lines inside the station without leaving the paid area.

Where does the Red Line split?

At National Paints (formerly Jebel Ali). One branch continues to Ibn Battuta, Energy, Danube and Life Pharmacy; the Route 2020 branch goes to Expo 2020. Check the destination on the train before boarding.

Can I download the Dubai Metro map?

Yes. Use the PNG button for a high-resolution image you can save on your phone, or the PDF button for printing on A4 or Letter paper. Both are free.

Is the Blue Line on the map open?

No. The Blue Line is under construction and is planned to open on 9 September 2029. It is shown dashed on the map so you can see where it will run.

Why do some stations have different names on older maps?

Many Dubai Metro stations are named under sponsorship deals, so names change. For example Rashidiya is now Centrepoint, Al Khail is Al Fardan Exchange, Jebel Ali is National Paints and UAE Exchange is Life Pharmacy. The table on this page lists every old name.
