Blue Line news
- July 2026: First phase of tunnelling completed (July 2026). On completion the network will reach 131 km, 78 stations and 168 trains.
- May 2026: 20% complete by May 2026; three TBMs ('Al Wugeisha') launched from International City 1 towards Mirdif, Auto Market and Al Warsan; 10,000+ workers.
- November 2025: 10% complete in November 2025; target 30% by end of 2026.
- June 2025: Foundation stone laid 9 June 2025.

Other recent changes
- 30 September 2026: Etihad Rail's Dubai passenger station opens next to Jumeirah Golf Estates metro station, linked by a pedestrian bridge; fares from AED 39. Details.
- July 2026: the Palm Monorail reopens after a six-month maintenance closure. See tram and monorail.
- September 2026: Planned Gold Line: 42 km, 18 stations, about AED 34 billion, scheduled 9 September 2032.
- February 2026: 294.7 million Metro riders in 2025 (+7% vs 2024). Busiest stations 2025: BurJuman 17.8M, Al Rigga 13.8M, Union 13.6M, Mall of the Emirates 11.2M, Sharaf DG 10.5M.

Frequently asked questions
What is the newest renamed Dubai Metro station?
Garmin, on the Red Line between Business Bay and Equiti. It was previously called Onpassive, and before that Al Safa and Noor Islamic Bank. RTA is updating signs and apps during autumn 2026.
Are there two Sharaf DG stations?
Not any more. Until 2020 the Red Line station now called InsuranceMarket was named Sharaf DG. Today Sharaf DG is the Green Line station formerly called Al Fahidi.
What happened to Jebel Ali station?
The name moved twice. The original Jebel Ali station became UAE Exchange in 2015 and is now Life Pharmacy. The station formerly called Nakheel Harbour & Tower was renamed Jabal Ali, and in 2025 became National Paints.
