About the Red Line
π World Record Holder
The Dubai Metro Red Line holds the prestigious Guinness World Record as the world's longest fully automated driverless metro line. Since its inauguration in September 2009, it has revolutionized urban transportation in Dubai, serving millions of commuters with unparalleled efficiency and safety.
πΊοΈ Strategic Route
Running parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road for most of its journey, the Red Line connects Dubai's key business districts, tourist attractions, and residential areas. From the eastern terminus at Centrepoint (formerly Rashidiya) to the western end at Expo 2020, it serves as the backbone of Dubai's public transport network.
Latest Update: Three Route Operations (2025)
In September 2025, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) introduced a revolutionary change to enhance passenger experience and reduce travel times during peak hours. The Red Line now operates with three distinct routes:
- Route 1 (All Hours): Centrepoint β Expo 2020 Station - Full line service
- Route 2 (All Hours): Centrepoint β Life Pharmacy Station
- Route 3 (Peak Hours Only): Centrepoint β Al Fardan Exchange Station - Operates 7-9 AM and 4-8 PM
This innovative three-route system significantly improves service frequency in high-demand areas, ensuring faster and more efficient daily commutes across Dubai's busiest corridors.

What are the Red Line operating hours?
The Red Line operates Saturday to Thursday from 5:00 AM to midnight (00:00), Friday from 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM, and Sunday from 8:00 AM to midnight. During Ramadan and special events, hours may be extended. Train frequency is 3-4 minutes during peak hours and 7-8 minutes during off-peak times.
